Spinal intradural extramedullary cavernous hemangioma with hemorrhagic transformation

Cavernous hemangioma in the spine is rare, and occurrence of intradural extramedullary cavernous particularly infrequent. A 57-year-old male patient visited emergency room with suddenly worsening neurological symptoms. Computed tomography at T10-11 levels showed a round isodense mass lesion, magnetic resonance imaging 1.2-cm oval mass. Therefore, diagnosis an tumor was suspected. Active subdural hemorrhage seen when dura opened after laminectomy. The had brown reddish colorations. made based on pathological examination, which dilated congested vascular space lined by endothelial cells. Hemorrhagic transformation can worsen patient’s condition. before surgery, we should consider possibility other tumors, such as hemangiomas, well common tumors.
